Nothing excites the Flipbook Museum staff more than a new flipbook. Our educational programs aim to teach the simple essence of motion pictures while emphasizing the vast styles and levels of difficulty found in analog animation.

Our lecture “The History of Motion Pictures in 100 Flipbooks” has been presented at film screenings, college classrooms and art galleries. The twenty-five minute lecture tells the history of animation from studios Edison to Pixar.

In a world increasingly distancing from physical media, we aim to highlight the charms and innovations of a handheld stack of paper whose potential for magic rests in the thumb of the holder. And they fit comfortably in your pocket.
